Airbnb Adventures Explained [Plus How To Book, Examples]
Airbnb Adventures
Airbnb Adventures are all-inclusive, multi-day activities led by local guides.
The Adventures program allows travelers to explore destinations in a relaxed, stress-free way, through the perspective of a host with roots in the community. In Airbnb’s words, “all you have to do is show up”.
In this guide, we’ll cover what travelers should know about Airbnb Adventures.
I’ll explain how the Adventures program works, provide examples of 20 popular adventures you can join, show you to sign up/book an adventure (step-by-step), and explain how to get help with a booking.

How Airbnb Adventures Work
Airbnb “Adventures” is an extension of the Airbnb “Experiences” program. Airbnb launched Experiences in 2016, then launched Adventures in 2019. The key difference between the two programs is the duration of activities included. Experiences range from 1 hour to a full day, while Adventures last from 2 to 10 days. Adventures also typically cost more - from $79 on the low end, to a few thousand on the high end. To learn more about Airbnb Experiences, click here.
While many adventures are high-energy, physical activities (like bushwalking, scuba diving and climbing), others can be quite relaxed (like yoga retreats, culinary experiences and sailing). Each adventure includes an “intensity level” (light, moderate, strenuous, extreme) indicating how physically intense that particular adventure is. To learn about the four intensity levels, click here. To watch Airbnb’s Adventures promo video, click here.
Adventures are all-inclusive (including lodging, meals and transportation). This means everything, from pick-up to drop-off, is included in your total booking cost (not including your flight to the destination). According to Airbnb, all guests “have to do is show up”. Still, be sure to read the listing’s key information prior to booking (I'll show you how below).
There are certain qualifications that a host must meet in order to host an “adventure”. These include: local regulatory certifications, relevant employment history and connection to the community they’ll operate in. Each host then establishes a multi-day itinerary that provides guests with an adventure they couldn’t easily undertake themselves (which will make it somewhat unique). To read the host requirements, click here.
According to Airbnb, their company aims to partner with small, locally-based organizations when possible. While some itineraries are fairly standard for a region (hiking the Himalayas, diving in Mexico), many are unique to Airbnb (you won’t find them elsewhere).
Airbnb partnered with the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) to help regulate and ensure safety protocols for activities in the Adventure program. To learn more about this partnership (including common questions regarding safety measures), click here.

How To Sign Up For An Adventure
First, go to airbnb.com/adventures.
Enter your destination and dates in the search bar at the top, then click “Search”.
The next page displays your search results and an interactive map. If you have any preferences, use the search filters (Price, Language offered, Time of day, Accessibility features, Trip duration, Activity level, etc.). Help/Support With An Airbnb Adventure
Airbnb doesn’t provide a designated help phone number for users to call regarding an Airbnb Adventure (from my research and experience). If you need help/support with an Adventure you’ve booked, contact Airbnb through its Help Center. For the complete guide to contacting Airbnb, click here.
