How To Create A Hostelworld Account

Creating a Hostelworld account only takes a minute.

And while you CAN book without an account, you’ll miss out on some features. With an account, you can manage bookings, leave reviews and create your own “Wish List”. There are also no membership fees.

In this brief guide, I’ll show you how to create your own Hostelworld account.

Creating Your Hostelworld Account

On Hostelworld.com, click the Account icon in the upper-right corner of the home page. If you’re on a mobile device, you’ll see this in the drop-down menu.

From here, click “Create Account” at the bottom of the Log In pop-up.

Next, you’ll see this Sign Up page. Enter a username (can differ from legal name), email address, password, first and last name, birth date, gender and nationality.

Then, scroll down and choose between a public access or private access account.

  • Public access accounts display usernames and photos on reviews.

  • Private access accounts anonymize usernames and photos on reviews.

Lastly, check “I Accept” after reading the Terms & Conditions and Data Protection Notice, then click “Sign Up”. For future reference, you can go directly to your account page just by clicking the Account icon.

Your Hostelworld Account Features

With your new Hostelworld account, you can:

  • Manage bookings (future, past and cancelled)

  • Manage and leave reviews (pending and past)

  • Create a Wish List (save hostels to refer to later)

How To Add/Edit Your Personal Information

You can add/edit personal information, including the email address and username. To do so, click the “My Account” tab within your account. Your personal information is under “My Info”. Keep scrolling to see your current voucher balance, to add/save a payment method, or to change your privacy preferences.

Find Your Previous Bookings After Creating A New Account

Hostelworld bookings are attached to email addresses. To access a booking you made prior to creating your account, just enter the original email address you used to make the booking (on the sign-in page), then click “Forgot password?”. You’ll receive an email with sign in details to access your account.
